The ruling on one who catches the imam in the bowing of the last rak'ah of Jumu'ah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The listener, Salah al-Qurashi, sent a question saying: What is the ruling on one who enters the mosque in the last rak'ah of the Jumu'ah prayer and catches only the bowing from it? Does he complete it as Zuhr or as Jumu'ah?

Answer:
One who catches the imam in the Jumu'ah prayer in the second bowing completes it as Jumu'ah; for what came in the hadith from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
Whoever is in time for a Rak'ah of the Friday prayer, or any other prayer, should add another (Rak'ah) to it and his prayer will then be complete.من أدرك ركعة من الجمعة؛ فليضف إليها أخرى، وقد تمت صلاته
Bulugh al-Maram 2:366
And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever catches a raka of the prayer has caught the prayer.من أدرك ركعة من الصلاة؛ فقد أدرك الصلاة
Muwatta Malik 1:15
.
The prayer is caught by the bowing, so if he comes and the imam is bowing, he bows with him, and when the imam says the taslim, he stands and performs the missed rak'ah, and the recitation of al-Fatihah is dropped from him because he missed the standing, so his prayer is valid.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
