The second question of Fatwa No. ( 16369 )
Q 2: A man is praying before the obligatory prayer, and the iqamah is called while he is in the bowing of the second rak'ah. Does he break off his prayer or complete it? And if he breaks it off, does he receive reward for it or not?
Vol. 2: If the iqamah is called while a person is in a voluntary prayer, and he is in the final bowing or prostration, he should complete it and join the congregation, and he should not cut it off, because of the saying of Allah the Exalted:[Muhammad 47:33] As for if the iqamah is called while he is at the beginning of the voluntary prayer or in the second rak'ah before bowing, he should cut it off; because of the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Jami` at-Tirmidhi 421Sahih (Darussalam), narrated by Muslim , and the minimum of the prayer is one rak'ah. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
