Q: An imam recited a verse of prostration, then said the takbir and prostrated, then raised his head and began reciting without saying the takbir. Does he have to perform the prostration of forgetfulness or not? Some said: It is obligatory for the followers to prostrate, even after the prayer. I ask for guidance to the correct ruling. May Allah reward you with good and bless you?
A: It is prescribed to say the takbir for the prostration of recitation and for rising from it in prayer, based on the hadith of Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said:Mishkat al-Masabih 1032 It was narrated by Abu Dawud, and by the generality of the hadith: As for outside of prayer, one says the takbir for the prostration of recitation but not for rising. If he does not say the takbir when rising from the prostration, he does not have to perform the prostration of forgetfulness. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
