The Takbir for Prostration of Recitation

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 2437 )
Q: Does the reciter say takbir in sujud al-tilawah when going down and when rising from it, or only when going down? Does he recite the tashahhud first? And does he say taslim from it or not?
A: First: One who performs sujud al-tilawah says takbir when going down; for what
narrated by Abu Dawud in his Sunan from Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said:
God’s Messenger used to recite the Qur'an to us, and when he came to a place where a prostration should be made he said “God is most great” and prostrated himself, and we prostratedكان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقرأ علينا القرآن، فإذا مر بالسجدة كبر وسجد وسجدنا
Mishkat al-Masabih 1032
, and he does not say takbir when rising from the prostration; because that is not established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and because sujud al-tilawah is an act of worship, and acts of worship are based on what is prescribed, so one restricts oneself to what has come in the texts. What has come regarding saying takbir is for going down in sujud al-tilawah, not for rising from it, unless the sujud al-tilawah is performed while in prayer, in which case he says takbir for both going down and rising; due to the generality of the authentic hadiths regarding the description of the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) prayer, and that he used to say takbir in every going down and rising. Second: One does not recite the tashahhud after sujud al-tilawah, nor does he say taslim from it; because that is not established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in this context, and it is an act of worship, and acts of worship are based on what is prescribed, so one does not rely on analogizing it to the tashahhud and taslim in prayer. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
