The second question of Fatwa No. ( 17626 )
Q 2: What is the ruling on reciting behind the imam in the loud prayers?
A 2: It is obligatory for the follower to recite al-Fatihah during the imam’s pauses in the loud prayers and in the silent prayers; because of his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):Jami` at-Tirmidhi 247Sahih (Darussalam) If the imam does not have pauses in the loud prayers, the follower recites it while the imam is reciting, then he listens; because of the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Sunan Abi Dawud 823Da'if (Al-Albani) , but if the follower is ignorant of the ruling or forgets to recite it
or is unable to do so because he arrived while the imam was bowing, then it is dropped from him due to the hadith of Abu Bakrah al-Thaqafi recorded in (Sahih al-Bukhari ). And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

There is no Salat for the one who does not recite Fatihatil-Kitab.
لا صلاة لمن لم يقرأ بفاتحة الكتابPerhaps you recite behind your imam? We replied: Yes, it is so, Messenger of Allah. He said: Do not do so except when it is Fatihat al-Kitab, for he who does not recite it is not credited with having prayed.
تقرءون خلف إمامكم، قلنا: نعم، قال: لا تفعلوا إلا بفاتحة الكتاب فإنه لا صلاة لمن لم يقرأ بهاor is unable to do so because he arrived while the imam was bowing, then it is dropped from him due to the hadith of Abu Bakrah al-Thaqafi recorded in (Sahih al-Bukhari ).
