The Criterion for Distinguishing Semen, Wadi, and Madhi

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fifth question of Fatwa No. ( 21683 )
Q: Esteemed Shaykhs: What is the sufficient legal criterion for distinguishing between semen, wadi, and madhi , so that the Muslim individual can
know what he must do: the full ritual bath if it is semen, or the ablution if it is madhi and wadi?

A 5 : Semen: A white, thick fluid that comes out of the penis in a gush with pleasure. After it comes out, the person feels a sense of relaxation. Semen is pure according to the correct view, and it is recommended to clean the clothes from it by washing or rubbing. Its emergence from a person necessitates the full ritual bath, whether through intercourse or wet dreams. However, if semen comes out without pleasure due to illness or severe cold, it does not necessitate the full ritual bath, but only the ablution. Madhi: A thin, white, sticky fluid that comes out of the penis when one caresses his wife or thinks about intercourse, but not in a gush, and it is not followed by relaxation. Madhi is ritually impure, and its emergence necessitates the ablution, washing the penis and testicles, and sprinkling what it touches on the body and clothes. Wadi: A thick, white fluid that comes out of the penis after urination. It is ritually impure and necessitates the ablution. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
