Does nosebleed invalidate the ablution?
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 18799 )
Q 2: Does nosebleed invalidate the ablution and the prayer, or not?
A 2: Impurities that exit from the body other than the two passages, if
It was not urine or feces, such as nosebleeds, vomit, blood from wounds, and the like. The ablution is not invalidated by these unless the amount is large, meaning what is considered excessive in the body; for it was narrated by Abu al-Darda'Sunan Abi Dawud 356Hasan (Al-Albani). And Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "If it is excessive, he must repeat it." As for a small amount of that, the ablution is not invalidated by it, and a group of the Companions said so, such as Ibn Abbas and Abu Hurayrah and Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them), and no one among the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them all) was known to have opposed them, and a group of the Tabi'un said the same. It is established from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he squeezed a boil and blood came out, so he prayed without performing ablution. This is understood to apply to a small amount. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

'Uthaim b. Kulaib reported from his father (Kuthair) on the authority of his grandfather (Kulaib) that he came to the Prophet (ﷺ): I have embraced Islam. The Prophet (ﷺ) said to him: Remove from yourself the hair that grew during of unbelief, saying "shave them". He further says that another person (other than the grandfather of 'Uthaim) reported to him that the Prophet (ﷺ) said to another person who accompanied him: Remove from yourself the hair that grew during the period of unbelief and get yourself circumcised.
