The Major and Minor States of Ritual Impurity
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 18362 )
Q 2: I have heard that a sick person must purify himself with water, performing the ablution for the minor state of ritual impurity and the full ritual bath for the major state of ritual impurity. What is meant by the minor and major states of ritual impurity?
Vol. 2: Minor ritual impurity: that which necessitates ablution but not the full ritual bath, such as the passing of urine, feces, or wind from the rear, and eating camel meat or sleeping. As for major ritual impurity: it is that which necessitates the full ritual bath, such as sexual intercourse, the emission of semen due to desire during sleep or otherwise, menstruation, and post-natal bleeding. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
