Adjusting the socks after the end of ritual purity

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fourth question of Fatwa No. ( 20196 )
Q 4: If I take off my socks from my feet just to adjust them or to put on another pair, does the period for wiping or the ablution become invalid? And if I put on the socks and their time limit arrives, but I am still in a state of purity, do I have to perform ablution?
A 4: If you take off your socks from your feet after wiping over them in order to adjust them, until the part of the foot that must be washed in ablution is exposed, even if it is a small amount, then that invalidates the ablution if it happens after a state of minor or major ritual impurity and after putting the socks on. It also invalidates the ruling for wiping over leather socks, so you must take them off. When the time for prayer comes, it is obligatory for you to perform a complete ablution, and it is not permissible for you to pray with the previous purity before taking off the socks. Likewise, if you take off the socks after wiping over them to replace them with others, then that invalidates the ruling for wiping over the new socks if they are put on while in the state of purity resulting from wiping over the previous socks. It also invalidates the ablution, so you must repeat the complete ablution by washing all the limbs of ablution completely, including the feet. After that, you may put on the new socks and start a new period for wiping. As for whether you meant to add a new pair of socks over the first pair without taking off the first pair: if you put on the new socks while in the previous purity that existed before putting on the old socks, meaning before wiping over the old socks, then the ruling for wiping applies to the upper socks. However, if you put on the new socks over the old ones after
wiping over the old socks, then the ruling applies to the first, old pair. When wiping over both, you are required to take off the new ones and wipe over the old ones; because one of the conditions for wiping over leather socks is that they be put on while in a state of complete ritual purity, having washed all the limbs of ablution. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
