Travelers Who Intend to Stay: Do They Have the Right to Take Advantage of the Dispensations of Travel?
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 20318 )
Q 1: We are teachers who leave our families before dawn on Saturday and return before the afternoon prayer on Wednesday, covering a distance of (200) kilometers. We have taken up residence near our workplace, where we stay from Saturday to Wednesday. Question: Do we have the right to take advantage of the dispensations of travel?
A 1: If the situation is as you described, that you travel from your place of residence to the city where you work, intending to stay there from the dawn of Saturday until after the midday prayer on Wednesday, then you do not take advantage of the dispensations of travel. This is because your period of residence is more than four days, so you are considered residents.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
