Combining two prayers when stopping in a town during travel

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 17900 )
Q 1: What is the ruling on combining two prayers when one stops in a town during travel ,
and intends to stay there for a period of time such that he will reach the time of the second prayer?

A 1: It is preferable for one who stops during travel in a manner that permits shortening the prayer to pray each prayer in its time, shortened, without combining; because when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stayed in Mina during the Farewell Pilgrimage, he used to pray each prayer in its time, shortened, without combining. As for one whose travel is urgent, he combines and shortens; because that is more convenient for him. And if the traveler is alone and there is a congregation of residents, it is obligatory for him to pray with them and to complete the prayer; because performing the prayer in congregation is obligatory, and shortening is a recommended practice, so he does not leave the obligatory for the sake of the recommended. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
