The traveler praying behind a resident

Fatwa number ( 19408 )
Q: I was traveling with one of the brothers, and we arrived at one of the mosques at the time of the Maghrib prayer. We performed the Maghrib prayer in full with the congregation. Then, we entered with a group of people who were praying Maghrib because they had missed the Maghrib prayer. We joined them with the intention of praying 'Isha' shortened. After the imam stood up for the third rak'ah, we said the taslim and left the prayer. My question is: Is our prayer valid, or was it obligatory for us to remain prostrating until the imam prostrates and says the taslim, and then we say the taslim with him? If our prayer is not valid, what should we do? Do we have to make it up? Please inform us. May Allah reward you with good?
A: Joining a congregation that is praying Maghrib with the intention of praying 'Isha' shortened is not valid. This is because if a traveler follows a resident, it is obligatory for him to complete the prayer, and it is not permissible for him to shorten it. This is based on what was narrated by Musa ibn Salama who said: . It was narrated by Ahmad and Muslim and others with similar wording. Based on this, you two must make up that prayer as four rak'ahs.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.

كنا مع ابن عباس بمكة فقلت: إنا إذا كنا معكم صلينا أربعًا، وإذا رجعنا إلى رحالنا صلينا ركعتين؟ قال: تلك سنة أبى القاسم صلى الله عليه وسلمAnd success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
