Holding two or more Friday prayers in one mosque

Fatwa number ( 18310 )
Q: I hope you will kindly issue a ruling on this issue, which came from the Islamic Association in the city of Newcastle in the United Kingdom ; regarding holding the Friday prayer in two groups, as the venue does not accommodate them all , and the university that granted them the space required that their number not exceed (250) people, while their number now exceeds (400) people.
A: It is not permissible to hold two or more Friday prayers in one mosque; because there is no evidence for this in the Book of Allah or in the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and it is not known from any of the Salaf of the Ummah or its imams. However, it is permissible out of necessity to hold the Friday prayer in another mosque in the town. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
