Q 1: I was informed by some of my brothers that they witnessed in the state of Kalimantan in Indonesia some mosques doing the following: that after the Friday prayer, they perform the midday prayer of four rak'ahs, knowing that they had already prayed the Friday prayer of two rak'ahs ?
A 1: Performing the midday prayer of four rak'ahs or two rak'ahs after the Friday prayer, as some ignorant people do to make up for the two rak'ahs of Friday so that it counts as the midday prayer, is a religious innovation (bid'ah) that must be abandoned; because that is among the newly invented matters in the religion. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sunan Abi Dawud 4607Sahih (Al-Albani) It is prescribed for Muslims to advise one another and cooperate to eliminate this innovation and others, and to call for adherence to the obligatory duties of the Shari'ah and its recommended practices (sunnah), for in that lies all good. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
