The prayer of one who is obligated to pray behind one who is praying a voluntary prayer, and the prayer behind a boy

The third question of the fatwa numbered ( 17953 )
Q 3: Is it permissible for a Muslim to follow in prayer one who has begun a regular voluntary prayer (rawatib) or another voluntary prayer before the obligatory prayer, with details on this, and whatis the ruling on praying behind one who has not reached puberty, or behind a smoker? ؟
A 3 : The correct view is that there is nothing wrong with one who is obligated to pray following one who is praying a voluntary prayer; due to the story of Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him), where he used to pray with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and then pray with his companions. There is nothing wrong with praying behind a boy who can distinguish right from wrong, according to the correct view, due to the story of 'Amr ibn Salimah , where he used to lead his people in prayer while he was a boy. There is nothing wrong with praying behind a smoker and other sinners among the Muslims, according to the most correct of the scholars' opinions. However, if it is easy to pray behind the righteous among them, that is better. A smoker and one who displays sin should not be appointed as imam; because
he would be a bad example for others. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
