The location of the women’s prayer area in the mosque

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 19836 )
Q: I am the imam of the Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) Mosque in the city of al-Khafji in the Eastern Region , and expansions have been carried out in this mosque due to the large number of worshippers and the needs of the region. However, difficulties have arisen from some of the congregation, and objections have been raised by others regarding certain matters. Therefore, it was necessary to write to you to issue a fatwa on the matter, which concerns the establishment of a prayer area for women that is separate from the internal building of the mosque . However, this women’s prayer area is within the mosque’s enclosure. Some said that the women’s prayer building must be connected to the internal mosque building,
and it may require a higher financial cost than if the prayer area were left unconnected. Another matter that is constantly a source of confusion is that in Ramadan, some people want the women’s prayer area for the tarawih prayers to be inside the internal mosque building, while others insist that it be in the building designated for women, which is separated by a partition but is still within the mosque’s enclosure. You will find, (may Allah preserve you), attached herewith, a hand-drawn diagram showing the internal mosque building, the actual location of the women’s prayer area on the first page, and the proposed location on the second page. We hope you will graciously clarify the matter and explain the truth. May Allah reward you with good, and may Allah send prayers and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon his family and all his Companions.

A : If the women’s prayer area you wish to build is within the boundaries of the mosque, there is no harm in it. It is sufficient for the women to follow the imam by hearing his voice through the loudspeaker, and it is not required in this case that they see the imam or any of the worshippers. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
