A Prayer Area for Women in the Vicinity of the Mosque

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: We are residents of one of the neighborhoods in Ta'if , and there is a small mosque (15x10m) in our neighborhood, built by one of the benefactors, which did not include a prayer area for women. The mosque has a rear area measuring twenty meters by fifteen meters. This area contains a paved courtyard seven meters wide, matching the mosque's width of ten meters. Beyond this courtyard is the rest of the area. As residents of the neighborhood, we wish to build a women's prayer area after the courtyard, so we prepared the necessary plan for this. However, the municipality objected because the women's prayer area would be separated from the mosque by the aforementioned courtyard. Therefore, we hope you will issue a ruling on this matter for us.
and provide us with documentation proving this. Please note that the mosque is currently full of worshippers at certain times, and it will be crowded during Ramadan, with prayers held in the courtyard, if Allah wills. We ask Allah, then you, to provide us with documentation proving whether this is permissible or not. May Allah preserve you.

A: After the Committee studied the inquiry, it responded that it sees no objection to building a women's prayer area within the mosque's grounds. The mention in the question of a paved courtyard belonging to the mosque, which separates the roofed mosque from the women's prayer area, does not prevent the construction of the women's prayer area, as the aforementioned courtyard is considered part of the mosque, and prayers are held there when the mosque is full, because the name "mosque" encompasses all these parts.
