Q1. A girl has been afflicted with an illness that prevents her from holding back urine for a long period, and as a result, she cannot maintain her ablution. She asks whether it is permissible for her to leave off prayer or not?
A1 : It is not permissible for this woman to leave off prayer because of her inability to hold back urine. Rather, it is obligatory for her to pray according to her condition: she should clean herself when the time for prayer enters, place something on the exit to prevent the leakage of urine, then perform ablution and pray, even if urine comes out of her during the prayer. This is based on the saying of Allah the Exalted:
So fear Allah as much as you are ableفَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ
[At-Taghabun 64:16]
, and His saying (peace and blessings be upon him) to the woman with irregular bleeding:
I perform wudu for the time of every prayerتوضئي لوقت كل صلاة
