Fatwa No. ( 18516 )
Q: Whatis meant by the recitation of the Qur'anthat is said to be a religious innovation in some books? Knowing that what we do in our institute is that the supervisor begins by reciting some verses from the Noble Qur'an, and then the students continue, one after another, taking turns so that his recitation and tajwid (rules of Qur'anic recitation) can be corrected, and is this considered part of the recitation of the Qur'an?
A : Teaching the Noble Qur'an and supervising its teaching is a good deed, and it is hoped for the one who works in that that he will receive great reward and recompense. And the management of the Qur'an, as defined by Imam al-Nawawi , is: that a group gathers, some of them reciting ten verses or a part (juz') or otherwise, then he stops and the next one recites from where the first one ended, then the next one recites, and this is permissible. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
