Leaving the prayer in the public mosque and performing the prayer in some government departments

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 16947 )
Q: There are public mosques in some government departments where congregational prayer is held, especially the midday prayer. However, sometimes people lay down carpets in some of the sections of those departments and pray in that temporary prayer area, even though the public mosque is sufficient for the department. Is it permissible for them to leave the prayer in the public mosque and perform the prayer in these temporary locations where prayer is held in groups? And what if the public mosque cannot accommodate all the employees of the department? Therefore, we ask your eminence for a clear explanation of this. Peace be upon you and Allah’s mercy and blessings.
A: It is not permissible for anyone in the department to pray the obligatory prayer in the department’s sections or hallways; rather, it is obligatory for them all to head to the department’s mosque to pray with the congregation.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
