Honoring the People of the Qur'an

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 18436 )
Q: I would like to know from your Eminence the authenticity of the following hadith and who narrated it: ( Whoever honors the people of the Qur'an, Allah will honor him, and whoever insults them, Allah will insult him ).
A : This hadith is not established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). What suffices for it is what is established from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
Glorifying Allah involves showing honour to a grey-haired Muslim and to one who can expound the Qur'an, but not to one who acts extravagantly regarding it, or turns away from it, and showing honour to a just ruler.إن من إجلال الله تعالى إكرام ذي الشيبة المسلم وحامل القرآن، غير الغالي فيه والجافي عنه، وإكرام ذي السلطان المقسط
Sunan Abi Dawud 4843Hasan (Al-Albani)
It was narrated by Abu Dawud from the hadith of Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him). And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
