Reading the Gospel

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa number ( 13445 )
Q2: Is it permissible for a person to read the Gospel to know its evil?
A2 : It is not permissible for a believer to read the Torah or the Gospel because of the distortion and alteration that has occurred in them; and because Allah, the Exalted, has made the Muslims self-sufficient in the Noble Qur'an, which is preserved from all change and alteration; and because the Shari'ah of our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) abrogates all previous Shari'ahs, and it is the most perfect, greatest, and most beneficial for the servants. Allah the Exalted said:
This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion.
[Al-Ma'idah 5:3]
. And He said
to His Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him):
Then We put you, [O Muhammad], on an ordained way concerning the matter [of religion]; so follow it and do not follow the inclinations of those who do not know.
[Al-Jathiyah 45:18]
, and it is narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he saw in the hand of 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) papers from the Torah and became angry and said:
Have you become infatuated with it, O son of al-Khattab? By Him in whose hand is my soul, I have brought you a pure, white [religion]... By Him in whose hand is my soul, if Moses were alive, he would have had no choice but to follow me.
The hadith. It was narrated by Imam Ahmad in (Al-Musnad). So we advise you to read the Qur'an, take care of it, increase in its recitation, and act upon what is in it, for in it is sufficiency and self-sufficiency from the books revealed before it from Allah. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
