The Gospel's Good News of the Sending of Muhammad (peace be upon him) and Allah's Refutation of the Christians and the Jews

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 11419 ):
Q: My companion has sent me a newsletter; I have sent you a copy of it. I hope you will answer the following:The aforementioned evangelist says: The Qur'an explicitly refers to the Gospel and the Christians, the Qur'an mentions that the Gospel contains guidance and light (5 \ 46) (al-Ma'idah), the Qur'an says: that the Gospel is guidance for all of humanity (3 \ 34) (Ali 'Imran), the Qur'an says: thatthe Jews and the Christiansread the heavenly books (2 \ 113) (al-Baqarah), and the Qur'an says: thatthe Christiansare judged according to the Gospel (5 \ 47) (al-Ma'idah), if Muhammad had any doubt about the Qur'an, the Qur'an says: that he should refer to the People of the Book
( the Jews and the Christians ) (10 / 94) (Yunus). The Qur'an never mentioned that the Gospel was altered or that it is not worthy of trust. If the Gospel had been altered, as many Muslims claim, the Qur'an would not have said: The Christians are the People of the Book and that they read the heavenly book. And if the Gospel had been altered or taken up to the sky, as many Muslims say, the Qur'an would not have advised and suggested to the Christians to judge by the Gospel; for it is not reasonable that the Qur'an would suggest to the Christians to judge by an altered Gospel or a Gospel taken up to the sky. If the book of the People of the Book had been altered, the Qur'an would not have suggested to Muhammad to refer to the People of the Book, and was Muhammad in doubt about the Qur'an?

The Committee answered the paragraphs of the inquiry as follows:- Paragraph (1): The Qur'an refers very clearly to the Gospel and the Christians , and mentions that the Gospel contains guidance and light (5 \ 46) and that it is guidance for all of humanity (3 \ 34)? Answer: Allah the Exalted mentioned the Gospel in the Qur'an and ordered its people to judge by what Allah revealed in it. Among what Allah revealed in it is the good news of the sending of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and the obligation to believe in him. Indeed, Allah took a covenant from every prophet to believe in every messenger Allah the Exalted sent after him. So it became obligatory upon 'Isa (peace be upon him) and his nation to believe in Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) at his sending and in what he brought, due to the universality of his message. Allah the Exalted said:
And We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], the Book in truth, confirming that which preceded it of the Scripture and as a criterion over it. So judge between them by what Allah has revealed and do not follow their inclinationsوَأَنْـزَلْنَا إِلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَ بِالْحَقِّ مُصَدِّقًا لِمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مِنَ الْكِتَابِ وَمُهَيْمِنًا عَلَيْهِ فَاحْكُمْ بَيْنَهُمْ بِمَا أَنْـزَلَ اللَّهُ وَلاَ تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَاءَهُمْ
[Al-Ma'idah 5:48]

, so He the Exalted informed that He revealed the Qur'an confirming what was before it of the heavenly books and overseeing them, establishing from them what Allah wills to establish and abrogating from them what He the Exalted wills. He the Exalted praised those of the People of the Book - the Jews and the Christians - who believed in it, and He blamed those among them who did not believe in it, and who broke the covenant and pledge taken from them and rebelled against the command of their Lord. Allah the Exalted said:
If only the People of the Scripture had believed, it would have been better for them. Among them are believers, but most of them are defiantly disobedient. (111) They will not harm you except for [some] annoyance. And if they fight you, they will show you their backs; then they will not be aided.
[Ali 'Imran 3:110-111]
, until He the Exalted said:
(113) They are not [all] the same; among the People of the Scripture is a community standing [in obedience], reciting the verses of Allah during periods of the night and prostrating [in prayer]. (114) They believe in Allah and the Last Day, and they enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and hasten to good deeds. And those are among the righteous. (115) And whatever good they do - never will it be removed from them. And Allah is Knowing of the righteous.
[Ali 'Imran 3:113-115]
, and He the Exalted said:
and you will find the nearest of them in affection to the believers those who say, "We are Christians." That is because among them are priests and monks and because they are not arrogant. (83) And when they hear what has been revealed to the Messenger, you see their eyes overflowing with tears because of what they have recognized of the truth. They say, "Our Lord, we have believed, so register us among the witnesses. (84) And why should we not believe in Allah and what has come to us of the truth? And we aspire that our Lord will admit us [to Paradise] with the righteous people." (85) So Allah rewarded them for what they said with gardens [in Paradise] beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide eternally. And that is the reward of doers of good.
[Al-Ma'idah 5:82-85]

, and He the Exalted said:
Fight those who do not believe in Allah or in the Last Day and who do not consider unlawful what Allah and His Messenger have made unlawful and who do not adopt the religion of truth from those who were given the Scripture - [fight] until they give the jizyah willingly while they are humbled.
[At-Tawbah 9:29]
until He said:
They have taken their scholars and monks as lords besides Allah, and [also] the Messiah, the son of Mary. And they were not commanded except to worship one God; there is no deity except Him. Exalted is He above whatever they associate with Him.
[At-Tawbah 9:31]
, and so on, of the verses that were revealed praising those among them who believed in Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and blaming those who disbelieved in him. Then, the Gospel that Allah the Exalted revealed to 'Isa (peace and blessings be upon him) is the one that gave good news of the message of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), yet they did not believe in his message. And yet, you argued with the Qur'an that Allah revealed to him, and you believed in the crucifixion of the Jews of 'Isa ibn Maryam and their killing of him, and you claimed that this is in the Gospel, so Allah refuted you as He refuted the Jews in that, by His saying in the clear text of His Book:
And [for] their saying, "Indeed, we have killed the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, the messenger of Allah." And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but [another] was made to resemble him to them.
[An-Nisa 4:157]
, and you claimed that the Messiah 'Isa ibn Maryam is the son of Allah. Exalted is Allah above having a son, so He refuted you in that, indeed He declared you disbelievers by His saying
the Exalted:
They have certainly disbelieved who say that Allah is Christ, the son of Mary
[Al-Ma'idah 5:17]
the verse, and you claimed that he is a god along with Allah, so He the Exalted declared you disbelievers in that by His saying:
They have certainly disbelieved who say, "Allah is the third of three." And there is no god except one God. And if they do not desist from what they are saying, there will surely afflict the disbelievers among them a painful punishment.
[Al-Ma'idah 5:73]
the verses, and you claimed that the pig is lawful to eat and you worshipped through monasticism, and all of this is not in the Gospel, but it is a religion that Allah has not permitted nor legislated. After this and the like of your fabrications, you claim that the Gospel has not been altered and that you have not hidden anything from it nor added anything to it. Then you try to argue with the Qur'an to prove your claims and your innovations, following the ambiguous parts of the Qur'an and leaving the clear parts, seeking fitnah, lying with your tongues and attacking the religion. Allah the Exalted said:
O People of the Scripture, there has come to you Our Messenger making clear to you much of what you used to conceal of the Scripture and overlooking muchيَا أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ قَدْ جَاءَكُمْ رَسُولُنَا يُبَيِّنُ لَكُمْ كَثِيرًا مِمَّا كُنْتُمْ تُخْفُونَ مِنَ الْكِتَابِ وَيَعْفُو عَنْ كَثِيرٍ
[Al-Ma'idah 5:15]
, the verses until the last verse:
O People of the Scripture, there has come to you Our Messenger to make clear to you [the religion] after a period [of suspension] of messengers, lest you say, "There came not to us any bringer of good tidings or a warner."
[Al-Ma'idah 5:19]
, and He said:
O People of the Scripture, do not commit excess in your religion
[An-Nisa 4:171]
, until His saying the Exalted:
Never would the Messiah disdain to be a servant of Allah
[An-Nisa 4:172]
the verse. If you do not do so, you are
among those about whom Allah said:
(150) Indeed, those who disbelieve in Allah and His messengers and wish to discriminate between Allah and His messengers and say, "We believe in some and disbelieve in others," and wish to adopt a way in between - (151) Those are the disbelievers, truly. And We have prepared for the disbelievers a humiliating punishment.
[An-Nisa 4:150-151]
