Supplication at the grave of the deceased after burial

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first and third questions of Fatwa No. ( 18209 )
Q 1: What is the ruling on supplicating at the grave of the deceased after burial, with one of the attendees making the supplication and the others saying "Ameen" to it ? What is the prescribed manner of supplicating for him after his burial, and what is prescribed in terms of supplication? Where should the one supplicating for the deceased stand in relation to the grave?
A 1: It is recommended to stand at the grave of the deceased and supplicate, seek forgiveness for him, and ask for steadfastness for him after the completion of his burial; based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to his companions after they finished burying one of the deceased:
Seek forgiveness for your brother, and beg steadfastness for him, for he will be questioned now.استغفروا لأخيكم واسألوا له التثبيت فإنه الآن يسأل
Sunan Abi Dawud 3221Sahih (Al-Albani)
. However, the supplication should not be done in a collective manner, or with one person supplicating and the others saying "Ameen"; because these two manners are not established in the texts. Rather, each person should supplicate for his brother individually, whether he is to the right of the grave, to the left, in front of it, or behind it.
