Fatwa No. ( 19519 )
Praise be to Allah alone, and blessings and peace be upon the one after whom there is no prophet. And after: The Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta has reviewed what was sent to His Eminence the Grand Mufti from the questioner, Dr. [Name], Chief Physician and Consultant of Kidney Diseases at King Khalid Hospital in Jeddah , which was referred to the Committee by the General Secretariat of the Council of Senior Scholars, with number (1478) and date 10/3/1418 AH. The doctor asked a question, the text of which is as follows: Over the past years, we have accumulated a huge number of parts of patients' bodies after performing surgical operations on them. These parts may be limbs, parts of internal organs, or muscles.
It is difficult to contact their families, especially since many of them are not from the local residents. What we wish to do is to bury these organs in a yard around the hospital, which we believe will not be needed for the next five years. And Allah knows best. We request that you look into the matter and inform us in writing about this issue so that we can make the appropriate decision in accordance with what our noble Shari'ah dictates.

After studying the inquiry, the Committee answered that it is obligatory to bury such limbs and other parts of Muslim human beings in a grave in the cemetery, and to level its surface like other graves so that it is not dug up. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions.
