The Ruling on Special Ceremonies for the Deceased
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The ninth question from Fatwa No. ( 19504 )
Q 9: If a person who works in the American army dies, they have
special ceremonies performed for the deceased, such as soldiers lining up, presenting honors, and playing music. Is it permissible to do this for a Muslim ?
A 9 : The special ceremonies for the deceased mentioned in the question are religious innovations (bid'ah) that are not permissible for Muslims to perform or approve of. It is obligatory for a person, before his death, to forbid and warn those who come after him from performing these newly invented matters, so that he may not have a share of the sin and burden by his approval and silence. We ask Allah for well-being. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
