Giving charity on behalf of the deceased and the deceased’s awareness of it

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The sixth question of Fatwa No. ( 2143 )
Q6: If a person offers a sacrifice on behalf of his deceased father, or gives charity on his behalf, or makes du'a' for him, and visits his grave, does the deceased feel that it is from his son so-and-so?
A6: What the texts of the Shari'ah indicate is that the deceased benefits from the charity of the living on his behalf, and from their du'a' for him. The sacrifice is a type of charity, so if
the one giving charity is sincere in his charity on behalf of the deceased and in his du'a' for him, the deceased benefits, and the one making du'a' and the one giving charity are rewarded with favor and mercy from Allah. It is sufficient for him that Allah knows his sincerity and good deed from him, and that He rewards both parties. As for the deceased feeling who did him a favor, we do not know of any scriptural evidence indicating this, and it is a matter of the unseen, which is known only through the revelation of Allah the Exalted to His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
