Q 4: Many Muslims in Yemen have water basins in front of their mosques, and they clean themselves inside these basins in front of others, and they complete
their ablution inside those basins. Is their prayer acceptable, and what is the ruling on cleaning oneself in front of people ?
A 4: Whoever wants to clean himself must conceal himself, and it is not permissible for him to expose his private parts in front of people. It is not permissible to clean oneself and perform ablution inside small basins; rather, one should clean oneself and perform ablution outside of them so that this does not lead to the water becoming ritually impure or disgusting. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
