The questioner : Is it permissible to build a mosque from this or to establish a continuous charity from this earnings?

The Shaykh : I have previously stated that if he does this to get rid of it, there is no blame on him.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : And his conscience is cleared by it, but he does not receive reward for this work; rather, he receives reward for getting rid of it and repenting from it. As for the work itself and the benefit Muslims derive from it, he does not receive reward for it because it is not from his wealth. However, if he does it as charity for himself and to draw near to Allah, that does not benefit him; it does not bring him closer to Allah (Mighty and Majestic), nor does it clear his conscience or absolve him. As for the benefit Muslims derive from it, they will benefit from it, but its owner will not benefit from it.
