Praise be to Allah alone, and may peace and blessings be upon the one after whom there is no prophet. Having reviewed the matter submitted to His Eminence the Grand Mufti by the questioner, the honorable director of the Center of the Commission for Promoting Virtue and Prohibiting Vice in the Housing District, Shaykh Ahmad ibn Ibrahim al-Hakami, under number (21209) and dated 12/5/1428 AH, and referred to the Committee by the General Secretariat of the Council of Senior Scholars under number (821) and dated 17/5/1428 AH, the Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta has examined the question, the text of which is as follows: In gold shops, there are gold samples bearing the Name of Allah (Allah) and other samples in the shape of a human eye, which some ignorant people believe protect the wearer from the evil eye. It is known that these samples bearing the Name of Allah are subject to desecration when the wearer enters the restroom with them, or sleeps while wearing them, and some people use them as amulets. The question is: What is the ruling on acquiring these mentioned samples, those bearing the Name of Allah and those in the shape of an eye? And since the one manufacturing these samples is one of the local factories, what is the ruling on manufacturing and selling them? Attached is a picture of these samples. May Allah preserve you and care for you.
