Fatwa No. ( 21284 )
Praise be to Allah alone, and may peace and blessings be upon the one after whom there is no prophet. And after: The Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta has reviewed what was sent to His Eminence the Grand Mufti from the honorable Director of the Da'wah and Guidance Center in the province of Jeddah , via his letter No. (790 \ 9 \ 20 \ J) dated 11 \ 10 \ 1420 AH, and referred to the Committee by the General Secretariat of the Council of Senior Scholars with No. (5107) and dated 22 \ 10 \ 1420 AH. The questioner asked a question, the text of which is: You will find attached a ring submitted by one of the citizens seeking a ruling on it, as the Name of Allah (Allah) is drawn on the ring, and a cross is drawn on the letter lam in the Name of Allah . We ask your Eminence to review and consider his inquiry.
After studying the inquiry, the Committee answered : It is not permissible for a Muslim who believes in Allah and the Last Day to use anything that bears the symbols of disbelief and its emblems;
such as the cross, the Star of Israel, a statue of Buddha, or the like, whether in clothing, rings, medals, or otherwise. It is also forbidden to manufacture, sell, or buy them; because all of this is cooperation in sin and aggression, and it involves approval of what is wrong. Whoever possesses any of this must destroy it. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
