The wisdom behind the creation of the heavens and the earth in six days
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q51: There is no doubt that Allah is capable of all things, so what is the wisdom in Allah creating the heavens and the earth in six days , and not creating them in less than that?
A51: It is known that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) is capable of all things, and His power (Glorified and Exalted is He) has no limits. He (Glorified and Exalted is He) possesses absolute power and perfect will, and the ultimate authority and decree. When He wills something, He says to it: "Be," and it becomes as He willed (Glorified and Exalted is He), in the manner He willed. The texts from the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) have affirmed this matter. Among them is His saying (Glorified and Exalted is He):[Al-Baqarah 2:117], and His saying (Glorified and Exalted is He): [Ali 'Imran 3:47], and His saying (Glorified and Exalted is He): [Ghafir 40:68], and He said (Glorified and Exalted is He): [Al-Qamar 54:50].
The Qur'an has indicated that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) created the heavens and the earth in six days. He (Glorified and Exalted is He) says:[Al-A'raf 7:54]. There is no matter that Allah does in which He does not have profound wisdom, and this is among the meanings of the name of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) (Al-Hakim, the Wise). This wisdom may be revealed to us by Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He), or He may not reveal it, and the firmly grounded in knowledge may know and deduce it, while others do not. However, our ignorance of this wisdom does not lead us to deny it or object to the rulings of Allah, nor to attempt to force an explanation or question this wisdom which Allah has hidden from us. Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) said: . Some scholars have deduced the wisdom behind the creation of the heavens and the earth in six days: The Imam al-Qurtubi (may Allah have mercy on him) said in his tafsir (Al-Jami' li Ahkam al-Qur'an) regarding verse 54 of Surah al-A'raf: (... and the mention of this duration—namely, six days—although He could have created them in an instant if He had willed, for He is the One capable of saying to them: "Be," and they would be. But He willed to teach the servants gentleness and deliberation in matters, and to manifest His power to the angels gradually...
...and another wisdom: creating them in six days, because everything has a term with Him, and by this He indicated the delay of punishing the sinners, because everything has a term with Him... End of quote.

Originator of the heavens and the earth. When He decrees a matter, He only says to it, "Be," and it is.
Such is Allah; He creates what He wills. When He decrees a matter, He only says to it, 'Be,' and it is.
He it is who gives life and causes death; and when He decrees a matter, He but says to it, "Be," and it is.
And Our command is but one, like a glance of the eye.
The Qur'an has indicated that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) created the heavens and the earth in six days. He (Glorified and Exalted is He) says:
Indeed, your Lord is Allah, who created the heavens and earth in six days and then established Himself above the Throne
He is not questioned about what He does, but they will be questioned.
لاَ يُسْأَلُ عَمَّا يَفْعَلُ وَهُمْ يُسْأَلُونَ...and another wisdom: creating them in six days, because everything has a term with Him, and by this He indicated the delay of punishing the sinners, because everything has a term with Him... End of quote.
