The Friday prayer without a sermon

Fatwa number ( 17925 )
Q: In our village, we have the Friday prayer. Once, there was no preacher, and some of the people prayed four rak'ahs, while another man led the people in two rak'ahs, reciting aloud in them. Please give us a ruling, may Allah reward you with good and make you a storehouse for Islam and the Muslims, and may Allah preserve you?
A: One of the conditions for the validity of the Friday prayer is that two sermons precede it, containing praise of Allah and glorification of Him, the two testimonies, sending blessings and peace upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), exhortation to fear Allah, and reciting something from the Qur'an that suits the topic of the sermon. If the two sermons are not present in the manner we mentioned, the Friday prayer is not valid, and it is obligatory for those present to pray the midday prayer of four rak'ahs instead. Based on this, those who prayed two rak'ahs without the two sermons preceding them did not have a valid prayer, and they must repeat it as the midday prayer of four rak'ahs. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
