The third question of Fatwa No. ( 6898 )
Q3: Whatis the ruling in Islam regarding a preacher who speaks during the khutbah, or throughout it, about Isra'iliyyat, or mentions weak hadiths, seeking thereby the admiration of the people?
A3: If you know for certain that what he mentions in the sermon is Isra'iliyyat with no basis, or weak hadiths, then advise him to replace them with authentic hadiths and Qur'anic verses, and not to assert with certainty that something is attributed to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) without knowing its authenticity; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: This hadith was narrated by Muslim in the Sahih, on the condition that the advice be given in a good manner, not with harshness and violence. May Allah guide you and benefit through you. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
