The eighth question of Fatwa No. ( 16053 )
Q 8: I have learned that there is a hadith stating that it is not permissible for the one praying on Friday to speak after the imam ascends the pulpit, and the substance of that hadith is the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):Musannaf Abd al-Razzaq 4:271 , and I see some people using the miswak while the imam is delivering the sermon, so is the miswak among the prohibited things during the imam's sermon ?
A 8: It is obligatory for those present during the Friday sermon to listen to the sermon and pay attention, and it is forbidden for them to speak or to move in a way that is frivolous, and using the miswak is a movement that is not permissible during the sermon, because this is not its time. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
