Sleeping during the Friday sermon

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The third question of Fatwa number ( 18192 )
Q 3: Some people, and I am among them, sleep during the Friday sermon , so what is the Shaykh’s opinion and the ruling of Islam?
A 3: It is obligatory for the Muslim to listen to the Friday sermon and to avoid distractions, such as talking, sleeping, or drowsiness. Muslim narrated in his (Sahih) from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever takes a bath, then comes to al-Jumu'ah prayer, then prays what was fixed for him, then keeps silent till the Imam finishes the Khutbah (religious talk - sermon), and then prays along with him - his sins (committed) between that time and the next Friday will be forgiven, with an addition of three days more.من اغتسل ثم أتى الجمعة فصلى ما قدر له ثم أنصت حتى يفرغ الإمام من خطبته ثم يصلي معه غفر له ما بينه وبين الجمعة الأخرى، وفضل ثلاثة أيام
Bulugh al-Maram 2:382
And from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
If anyone speaks on Friday while the imam is preaching, he is like an ass which carries books, (cf. Al-Qur'an; 62:5) and he who tells him to be quiet is not credited with the Friday prayer.من تكلم يوم الجمعة والإمام يخطب فهو كمثل الحمار يحمل أسفارًا، والذي يقول له أنصت ليس له جمعة
Mishkat al-Masabih 1397
Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar said: Ahmad narrated it with a sound chain. All of this is due to the great status of the Friday sermon; because of the admonition, guidance, calling to good, and reminding the Muslim of Allah the Exalted contained in it.
Therefore, the Muslim must be alert to this matter and not be lax or heedless, due to the severe emphasis mentioned earlier. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
