Q: We submit to your eminence the request submitted by the citizen: (M. S. S. Sh), in which he seeks a ruling regarding a mosque he established next to his house, which is a popular mosque, measuring (6× 4 m). After a period of time, the construction expanded and the neighbors increased, and the people of the neighborhood agreed to build a large reinforced mosque in the center of the neighborhood, and this old popular mosque is no longer needed. Is it permissible for him to demolish it or use it for a purpose other than performing prayer?
A: He must spend its value on building another mosque in a place that needs it, or on the interests of the new mosque. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
