Q 1: What is the correct interpretation of the saying of Allah the Exalted:[Maryam 19:18] ?
A 1: The interpretation of the saying of Allah the Exalted:[Maryam 19:18] . It is as mentioned by the majority of the exegetes, among them the Hafith Ibn Kathir (may Allah have mercy on him), who said in his Tafsir (3/115): (Meaning, when the angel appeared to her in the form of a human being, and she was in a secluded place with a barrier between her and her people, she feared him and thought he was trying to seduce her, so she said: [Maryam 19:18]
That is: if you fear Allah; this is a reminder to him of Allah, and this is the prescribed method in repelling harm, which is to start with the easiest means, so you first warned him of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). Ibn Jarir said: Abu Kuraib narrated to us, and Abu Bakr narrated from Asim, who said: Abu Wa'il mentioned the story of Maryam and said: I know that the pious one is one who restrains [others] when she said:[Maryam 19:18]. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
