The questioner : He says: If a person accumulates a large amount of money from trading in forbidden items, then repents to Allah, is it permissible for him to perform Hajj with that money, or give it in charity, or marry with it, or build a mosque for Allah with it?

The Shaykh : Whoever earns income through a forbidden means, that income is not lawful for him, and he must dispose of it. This is done by returning it to its owners if it was pure usurpation and they did not receive any compensation for it. Otherwise, he should give it in charity to rid himself of it, or build a mosque with it, or engage in similar acts of good. However, he must not do so with the intention of drawing near to Allah, because that will not benefit him. Indeed, if one draws near to Allah with forbidden earnings, Allah will not accept it from him, for Allah the Exalted is Pure and does not accept anything but that which is pure. Furthermore, his liability is not cleared by this, because he did not intend to rid himself of the sin through this charity. Rather, the one who earned forbidden money and repented to Allah must spend it in what pleases Allah the Exalted, to rid himself of it, not to draw near to Him with it. By doing so, his liability is cleared. Yes.
