The sixth question from the fatwa number ( 19504 )
Q6: He used not to pray, he drank intoxicants, and he committed lewd acts, and he had a great deal of wealth from forbidden earnings. Then he repented to Allah from all of the aforementioned except the wealth. Is he obligated to dispose of it, or is he to be compared to a new Muslim who is not asked about the source of his wealth prior to that?
A6: Whoever repents from forbidden earnings is obligated to dispose of that evil wealth. If he is unable to determine its exact amount, he should give out what he believes will clear his conscience. This is if his sins did not expel him from Islam. However, if he exited Islam by doing one of its known nullifiers, and among those, according to the correct of the scholars' opinions, is abandoning the prayer, even if he did not deny
its obligation, then repentance is performing the prayer along with entering Islam anew, and this wipes out what came before it. He is not obligated to dispose of the wealth he obtained from forbidden trade during his state of disbelief; for Allah the Exalted said regarding the disbelievers:[Al-Anfal 8:38] And in the authentic hadith, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: . And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

Say to those who have disbelieved [that] if they cease, what has previously occurred will be forgiven for them
قُلْ لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا إِنْ يَنْتَهُوا يُغْفَرْ لَهُمْ مَا قَدْ سَلَفَIslam wipes out what came before it, and repentance wipes out what came before it
الإسلام يجبُّ ما قبله والتوبة تجب ما كان قبلها
