Fatwa No. ( 18965 )
Q 1: Why do we find that the lineage of our master Ishaq - the second son of our master Ibrahim - (peace be upon them both) developed until the birth of Jesus
in the Gospel, while we find that the lineage of our master Isma'il - the first son of our master Ibrahim - (peace be upon them both) did not develop?
A 1: All the prophets of the Children of Israel are from the descendants of Ishaq ibn Ibrahim (peace be upon them both), the last of whom is 'Isa ibn Maryam (peace be upon him). Israel is a title for Ya'qub ibn Ishaq (peace be upon them both). As for the descendants of Isma'il (peace be upon him), who are the Arabs, they remained upon the religion of their father Ibrahim (peace be upon him) until shirk (associating partners with Allah) occurred among them at the hands of 'Amr ibn Luhay al-Khuzai . At that time, Allah sent the Seal of the Prophets and the best of them, our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and made his mission general for the two heavy burdens, the jinn and mankind, and his Shari'ah abrogating what came before it until the Hour stands.
