Innovations in Funerals

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 10274 )
Q1: When a person dies among them, they slaughter two or more animals and call it: the deceased's dinner . Some invite people to this feast and serve it to them immediately after the Maghrib prayer, saying: the deceased's dinner must not be delayed past Maghrib, and some distribute it to the congregation as meat. Please inform us about this.
A1: The preparation of food by the deceased's family is an innovation, and the Salaf considered this to be part of wailing. The Sunnah is that food is prepared and sent to the deceased's family, as they are in need of having their grief alleviated. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
