Ruling on informing about the number of funerals in the town for the purpose of praying over them

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q561: The questioner asks: What is the ruling on informing about the number of funerals in the town for the purpose of praying over them?
A561: This is an unnecessary burden, and it is not reported from the Salaf that they did this, counting the funerals in the town. Yes, they inform about the death of a deceased person when he dies so that they may pray over him. When the Najashi died, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was informed of his death, and he prayed over him as an absent person. And as for focusing on the funerals in the town, it is sufficient if one focuses on a single funeral, accompanies it, attends its burial, stands at its grave after the burial, and seeks forgiveness for the deceased; this is sufficient and contains much good.
