Fatwa No. ( 17978 )
Q: I have attached three booklets for your Excellency: (Harz al-Jawshan), (Mujarrabat al-Darbi), and (The Names of the People of Badr). What is the ruling on reading them and acting upon them , and what is your advice to those who insist on dealing with them?
A: After the Committee reviewed the aforementioned books, it was found that they contain shirk (associating partners with Allah), innovated supplications, talismans, and seeking nearness to Allah through the righteous. Therefore, these are books that are not permissible to possess or to act upon; rather, it is obligatory to destroy them and stay away from them for safety from their evil. And there is—praise be to Allah—sufficient beneficial and authentic supplications for the Muslim, and we refer you in this matter to the book (Al-Wabil al-Sayb) by Ibn al-Qayyim , (Al-Kalim al-Tayyib) by Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah , and (Al-Adhkar) by Imam al-Nawawi , which contain much good, praise be to Allah. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
