The third question of Fatwa No. ( 17072 )
Q 3: ( The founder of the Salafi call is Allah ) Is the above statement correct?
A 3: Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allah is Islam, so Islam is the religion of Allah
and His Shari'ah which He revealed upon His Messenger and His servant Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and it is the conclusion of the Shari'ahs and religions, and its followers are the Muslims who have not deviated from its straight path by religious innovation, misguidance, or desire; they are the community of Muslims. In contrast to those who are not, without exception, they are called: (the People of the Sunnah), (the People of the Sunnah and the Community), (the People of the Hadith), and (the Salafis). So Salafiyyah: is a valid title meaning that they are upon the path of the righteous Salaf from the Companions and those after them - may Allah be pleased with them all - so it is a title by which they are distinguished from the people of innovation who altered, changed, and distorted. Therefore, this statement (The founder of the Salafi call is Allah) means that Allah is the one who legislated it, and it is correct in its meaning when applied to what has been mentioned, but using the term (founder) for Allah - (Glorified and Exalted is He) - is not permissible; because no text has come with it, and the rule is that no names or attributes are attributed to Allah except what He - (Glorified and Exalted is He) - has affirmed for Himself or what His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) has affirmed for Him. This is similar to the statement of some: (The engineer of the universe is Allah) meaning its Creator, so it is correct in meaning but prohibited in terms of wording, and therefore it is not permissible to use both for the reasons mentioned. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
