I work in an organization and noticed that the organization's accountant is embezzling some of the money. Should I advise him to stop this practice, or should I report him to the owner of the organization?

The questioner : I reside in the Kingdom and work in one of the non-profit organizations. Due to my job, I noticed that our accountant is embezzling some of the money by selling materials and not writing invoices for the price of these materials. What is my duty? Should I warn him and advise him to stop this practice, or should I report the owner of the organization? Please guide me in this matter?

The Shaykh : What I see is that you should inform the owner of the organization without mentioning your name to him, or if the owner of the organization is trustworthy, you may mention your name to him and say: "Do not let the accountant know about this," because I fear that if you advise the accountant and he is not successful in accepting the advice and continues with what he is doing of embezzlement, and then you are forced afterwards to inform the company owner, he will accuse you of being the one who reported him and then plot against you.

The questioner : May Allah bless you.
