Killing chickens by slaughtering them or strangling them to get rid of them
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 7313 )
Q 1: I work for one of the Egyptian poultry companies, and we kill some chicks or poultry ; either by slaughtering or strangling by severing the head from the spine, because they are sick and become a source of infection, or because they are weak and their fate is death. What is the ruling?
A 1 : It is not permissible to kill them by strangling or non-Shar'i slaughtering, or the like of that which makes them not permissible to eat because of their sickness or weakness; because of the waste of wealth involved in that. It is established that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the waste of wealth. It is possible to isolate them if they have an epidemic disease to avoid their harm, and to treat them to keep them alive for benefit, and to use disinfectants to prevent the epidemic by taking the ordinary causes, knowing that all matters are in the hand of Allah the Exalted and His will, decree, and divine decree and destiny. What He willed happened, and what He did not will did not happen. It is permissible to burn what dies of itself from these carcasses; to get rid of what is feared from their harm.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
