The Seven Harmful Creatures

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 12483 )
Q: One of my friends told me that what is called the seven harmful creatures is a superstition with no basis, but some of the brothers contradicted this friend, saying that the seven harmful creatures are a reality and have been mentioned in the Book and the Sunnah; therefore, I ask Your Eminence, the Shaykh, to answer: What are the seven harmful creatures by name, and are they mentioned in the Qur'an or the Sunnah? Please answer us, may Allah reward you with good. .
A : Imam al-Bukhari and Muslim narrated in their Sahihs from Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both): that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Five are the beasts for killing which there is no sin for the Muhrim: crows, kites, scorpions, rats and wild dogs.خمس من الدواب ليس على المحرم في قتلهن جناح: الغراب والحدأة والعقرب والفأر والكلب العقور
Sahih Muslim 1199b
In another narration:
Five are the (beasts) which if one kills them in the precincts of the Ka'ba or in the state of lhram entail no sinخمس لا جناح على من قتلهن في الحرم والإحرام
Sahih Muslim 1199a
And in (Sunan Abu Dawud and al-Nasa'i ):
there are five creatures which it is not a sin for anyone to kill, outside or inside the sacred area.خمس لا جناح في قتلهن على من قتلهن في الحل والحرم..
Sunan Abi Dawud 1846Sahih (Al-Albani)
The hadith.
This hadith indicates the negation of sin in killing these harmful creatures; because they are harmful by nature, and whether the killing is in the Haram or outside it, and whether the one killing them is in a state of ihram or not. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
