The eighth question of Fatwa No. ( 4552 )
Q 8: Is raising birds and sparrows and taking care of them among the forbidden things? Knowing that these birds multiply and live in cages, is there any evidence for this?
Vol. 8 : It is permissible to raise birds if one provides them with the water, food, and shelter they need that is suitable for them. This was the practice of the Muslims since the first century, and it was not criticized. Al-Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated in his *Sahih* from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:Sahih al-Bukhari 6203 We used to play with a hoopoe bird. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

The Prophet (ﷺ) was the best of all the people in character. I had a brother called Abu `Umar, who, I think, had been newly weaned. Whenever he (that child) was brought to the Prophet (ﷺ) the Prophet (ﷺ) used to say, "O Abu `Umar! What did Al-Nughair (nightingale) (do)?"
كان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أحسن الناس خلقًا، وكان لي أخ يقال له: أبو عمير ، قال: أحسبه فطيمًا، وكان إذا جاء قال: يا أبا عمير ، ما فعل النغير؟
