Cutting the Ears of Livestock
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 17448 )
Q: What is the ruling on cutting the ears of sheep and branding their horns so that they do not show, either for adornment or to increase their monetary value? May Allah reward you with good.
A: It is not permissible to cut the ears or horns of sheep for the purpose of adornment; because of the torture of the animal involved, and the imitation of the polytheists in altering the creation of Allah. It is obligatory to treat animals with kindness and not to harm them. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
